Can Eggs Help You Stay Full?
One reason many people enjoy eggs in the morning is their ability to contribute to satiety—the feeling of fullness after eating.
A breakfast built around eggs can be more satisfying than one consisting mainly of sugary pastries or highly refined carbohydrates. This may make it easier for some people to avoid unnecessary snacking later in the morning.
However, individual responses differ. Eating eggs does not automatically lead to weight loss or prevent overeating.
What About Cholesterol?
This is where much of the confusion surrounding eggs comes from.
Egg yolks contain dietary cholesterol, but dietary cholesterol is only one factor affecting blood cholesterol levels. Overall dietary patterns, saturated fat intake, physical activity, body weight, and other health factors also matter.
The American Heart Association’s current 2026 dietary guidance emphasizes the overall quality of a heart-healthy eating pattern rather than focusing exclusively on dietary cholesterol. It recommends plenty of vegetables and fruit, whole grains, healthy protein sources, unsaturated fats instead of saturated fats, and minimally processed foods.
Harvard’s Nutrition Source similarly notes that the relationship between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol is more complicated than once believed.
