How to make Old-Fashioned Beef Stew: A classic comfort food:
Step 1: Brown the meat for richer flavor: Heat olive oil in a large pot or saucepan over medium-high heat. Pat the beef cubes dry with paper towels. In a bowl, toss the meat with the flour, salt, and pepper. Brown the meat in the hot oil until golden brown on all sides. Brown the meat in batches, if necessary, to avoid overcrowding the pot, to achieve a golden crust.

Step 2: Make the flavorful broth: Once the meat is browned, add the water and beef broth. Using a wooden spoon, scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot (deglazing) and stir them into the liquid. Bring the broth to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
